About The Moravian Institute

"Equipping Disciples, Empowering Leaders, Transforming Communities"

A transformative educational initiative rooted in biblical truth and shaped by a distinctly Caribbean perspective

Our Mission

The Moravian Institute is a faith-based educational institution rooted in biblical truth and shaped by a distinctly Caribbean perspective. We are dedicated to equipping pastors, church leaders, and ministry practitioners through comprehensive training in theology, Bible courses, pastoral counselling, evangelism, and digital technology. Our programs are designed to nurture spiritual maturity, strengthen ministry effectiveness, and empower leaders to serve their communities with wisdom, compassion, and cultural relevance. Through Christ-centred education and practical development, we cultivate transformational leadership for both church and society.

Our Vision

The Moravian Institute envisions a Christ-centred educational movement rooted in biblical truth and shaped by a distinctly Caribbean perspective, equipping pastors, church leaders, and ministry practitioners with theological depth, spiritual maturity, and strategic leadership skills. Through integrated training in theology, pastoral care, evangelism, digital technology, and managerial development, we cultivate transformational leaders who serve with wisdom, compassion, and cultural relevance—empowered to build sustainable ministries, mobilize resources, and impact both church and society with integrity and innovation.

About Us

The Moravian Institute is a transformative educational initiative launched by the Moravian Church Eastern West Indies Province (EWI). Rooted in the rich theological heritage of the Moravian tradition and shaped by a distinctly Caribbean perspective, the Institute exists to equip disciples, empower leaders, and transform communities through faith-based education, ministry training, and leadership development.

Our Heritage

The Moravian Church, also known as the Unitas Fratrum, traces its origins to 15th-century Bohemia (modern-day Czech Republic), emerging from the reformist movements led by John Hus. In 1732, the Moravians began their missionary work in the Caribbean, establishing their first mission among enslaved Africans on the island of St. Thomas.

Their commitment to both evangelism and education quickly spread across the region. The Moravian Church was among the first Christian denominations to prioritize the education of enslaved and freed peoples, establishing primary and secondary schools throughout the West Indies.

This legacy of holistic ministry—combining spiritual formation, education, and social uplift—continues to shape the mission of the Moravian Church today.
